JELLYFISH BOOM
Developed out of antipollution barrier technology, JELLYFISH
BOOM® is a non-rigid boom designed to protect
beaches, swimming areas and others from large floating waste,
oil and foam, plastic bags and waste moving just below the
surface including jellyfish. Quick to set-up, the JELLYFISH
BOOM® barrier is used as preventive measure.
It helps to:
- ensure the cleanliness of swimming areas;
- protect sea water pumping stations from industrial sites.
The JELLYFISH BOOM® is made up of standard
25 m length sections. Each section is made up of a succession
of flat foam rubber blocks in waterproof membranes, and a
chain protected by a hem acting as a ballast and ensuring
the mechanical resistance of the whole.
Simple to handle and optimum storage
- photos 1, 2, 3
Designed in the form of compartmentalised foam rubber,
JELLYFISH BOOM® is characterised by the lightness and
flexibility, making it easy to set-up and follow perfectly
the movements of the surface of the water. The flatness
of the float means that storage space is reduced to a minimum
amount. It can be folded up into a box, or wound onto a manual
or hydraulically driven reel. Connecting the sections is simple
and quick to do, no tools are necessary. The submerged part
is made of a white net with a 25 mm mesh and a standard 2
m height. The ballast on the lower part is made of a 100 to
300 g/ml 3-strand rope as requested.
A safe, resistant product
The closed cell rubber foam used in making the float gives
it perfect buoyancy, even if it is accidentally torn. Moreover
the use of foam rubber dispenses with the need to inflate
and deflate when being put into use or stored. The float is
perfectly smooth to avoid any bodily grazing.
A mean of communication - photo

Apart from being an excellent barrier to floating debris,
the JELLYFISH BOOM® with its 15 cm freeboard
(part above the water) is an excellent space for communication
(signalling, identity, advertising).

The coloured net for good signalling has a light ballast
and perfectly takes on the shape of the sea bed while at the
same time preserving the flora and fauna.
